When Can We Expect To See A PR Update?

Anyone have a guess?

Does anyone have a guess as to when we can expect a new PR update? I've been running a little numbers experiment correlating PR to my earnings/traffic ... need more data, though

A PR + backlinks update will happen within a few days.

But I don't believe earnings are related to PR.

I've heard that. And in fact, my anecdotal evidence tells me the same thing. On my two best sites in the last update, PR fell from 6 to 5, but my traffic and income contine to grow.

But like I said, its a numbers experiment.

You know you have moved to the next lvl in SEO when you PR is nothing more than an amusing thing to you. I don't have anything that tells me PR any more.

Yeah, seems pr is good for getting new pages indexed and revisited, and for a little edge in the serps. Not so crucial as it once was, though.

What's PR?

;-)

Here's a little story about PR. My buddy and I - both registered virgin domains years back.

He put up a few pages - forgot about the site. His site was a PR4 immediately, and has been for I don't know how long. He has ONE IBL (from my pr3 site on a pr1 page)

I continued to build the site I registered the same day as him, and it now ranks inside of 100,000 in Alexa - has thousands of inbound links, and a PR of 3.

Page Rank means absolutely positively nothing to me. I rank fine with crappy PR.

I personally think PR.... should die. It's outdated, and a VERY poor representation of the overall quality of the site.

I guess I'm not up to "advanced" yet. :)

A followup question: What clues are there that an update is in the offing.

What clues are there that an update is in the offing.

From Matt Cutt's blog today:

"Just to give you a heads-up, I think a new set of backlinks (and possibly PageRank) will probably be visible relatively soon; I’m guessing within the next few days. I still expect some flux after that though, just to let you know."

Cheers, MJ

Biggest clue you can get - GoogleGuy saying it's going to happen.

What's going on? Are users of this forum boycotting the Google Search News forum? :-)
