The European Commission has launched enforcement action against Alphabet (Google’s parent company) and Apple for alleged breaches of the Digital Markets Act (DMA). If found guilty, they could face fines of up to 10% of global revenue—or 20% for repeat offenses. For Apple, that could mean a staggering $80 billion penalty.

This marks a significant moment in the EU's crackdown on Big Tech dominance. How do you see this playing out? Will Google and Apple adjust their practices, or will they fight back?

How will they defend themselves? The EU market is too big to pass up. I suspect they will turn to the US government and cry, but we here in the EU can't care because then there won't be any eggs from us ;-)

I expect that both companies will comply, which is good for the market. At the same time, this would also mean that Google would have to come up with something for its AI search, because strictly speaking, this could also cause problems in the EU in its current form.

When they move to put fines in the EU, the fine is 100% sure and I don't really know how Google would like to defend itself from the faults it has. When they then penalize sites in favor of their services, they not only take away visibility from the site, but also take away revenue from the state where the owner of the site pays taxes. Too bad, however, that it will take a long time to see Google condemned and we will no longer have our job

They will definitely go cry to Trump and use it as a card on the negotiation tables for unrelated matters. Politics will determine the fines if any. Don't be surprised if they are suddenly given time to "correct their mistakes" etc.
