There’s a few things brewing behind the scene’s and openly in Court rooms across the US and EU with multiple trials involving Google.

This mood for scrutiny could spread into the organic search component which all of us depend on.and can relate to.

Firstly, a quick recap on the background most of you know.

Google's dominance in the organic search market has been confirmed by a recent US court ruling, labeling it an illegal monopoly. This decision highlighted Google's practice of securing default search engine status through billion-dollar deals with companies like Apple and Samsung, which helped it maintain over 90% market share.

Key issues under scrutiny include:

1/ Default Search Engine Deals

These agreements limit competition by making Google the default on most devices, a practice also criticized by EU regulators.

2/ Algorithmic Favoritism

Allegations suggest Google manipulates search results to favor its services, affecting organic search fairness

3/ Impact on Competition

This monopoly restricts business trade and innovation, contrary to US antitrust laws like the Sherman Act and similar EU regulations

Authorities are considering remedies such as prohibiting exclusive deals or requiring more transparency.

So we know all that, but separately, within the overall context of monopolistic behaviors, it seems the arguments are fast evolving to hone in on the unfairness and favoritism within Google’s opaque search algorithms.

Google stifles innovation, trade and competition as a consequence of its organic search monopoly and business practices, particularly small business and publishers, whilst favoring its own assets and commercial advantages.

Will we see action specifically around these unfair search results and what might be the consequences? What are your thoughts around the various impacts?
