Should 'supplemental' archive pages be no-indexed?

On WordPress:

I have category pages that are indexed and get traffic but the supplemental pages that are also indexed don't get ranked (why would they) and I am wondering if I should no-index them. Also, the posts are added automatically to the home page get added to supplemental pages from the home page - ie /page 2/ - I think these also should be no-indexed - duplicate page titles?

Any comments or suggestions - I am also not sure how to no-index 'supplemental' pages - ie from page 2 onwards.

Category pages and Archive pages are all duplicates of your posts and pages. Perhaps useful but most people noindex the Archive pages because they merely present a different URL for the same content that is indexed. Setting up your site structure is important in keeping it easy to manage.

If you're using Yoast, they offer a rather long article explaining more about how and why to deal with supplemental pages here: https://yoast.com/wordpress-seo/#h-get-your-basic-wordpress-seo-right

There is a table of contents near the top to help you locate section 3.4 about how to handle archive pages. I de-linked that link because it contains characters that break links, you would need to paste the link into your browser's address bar.
