GA4 Traffic Dropped but Clicks increased in Search Console

Discrepancy on both tools data

Between August 8th and 10th, a client had a 40% drop in users compared to the previous month, according to GA4 data. In that same period, Google Search Console showed an 18% increase in Clicks. The data on GA4 had remained steady in the same range after the 40% drop but never went back to what it was showing as users and sessions from January to before August 8th. I haven't been able to figure out what this could be. Tracking on GA4 is working fine. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

There have been several Google updates since early August and if the site relies on Discovery it has been an extra problem. You can read about Discovery issues here: [webmasterworld.com...]

GSC can only show data from their serps traffic so I would conclude it is completely accurate unless your logs are in agreement. GA4 is known to be inaccurate right now so you can't rely on GA4 for dependable data. People are complaining about GA4 bugs in the monthly SEO Observations thread here: [webmasterworld.com...]
