Page disappears from Google

Hello, I'm hoping I can get some help.

I had a post ranking at the bottom of page 1 for a 2.9k search term on Google. I updated the page on 10/6 to add some top queries from GSC, three paragraphs of text, and two additional FAQs to improve the page. I also added four additional internal links pointing to the page from relevant pages.

Google crawled the page 10/6, but the page vanished from the SERP. The page is indexed but can only be seen with site:page. GSC shows no manual actions or penalties. Shows indexed in GSC with Good page experience. GSC says it's ranked 12, but it's not there and is getting no impressions. I also checked in in incognito mode, and it's not there.

Any suggestions?

Hi hmilesphi and welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

You are talking about a tiny time-frame from index to improve to disappear. Google does not work so fast. They take time to find, evaluate, compare, make quick judgement, come back later, compare new to old, evaluate changes, consider and analyze. Then come back to start over. You can't count on what you see today being near where it was seen last week.

My only suggestion is patience, because constant tweaking of content can tell Google to check back later. If it helps at all, there are many thousands of others in the same or similar situations. A quick look at the monthly observations discussion: [webmasterworld.com...] says there is currently nothing but surprises.
