The ranking has not seen a large fluctuation, you may need to wait a few more days

Seeing a slight drop in traffic but nothing drastic. (Less than 10%)

big shake up in our niche. Sites with very low content ( just a h1 and 10 worlds description ) are ruling right now.
Sites that are more intelligent constructed with product compare or alternative products are burried on page 3 and down.

I know it is early in progress of cu but if this sticks than content is not king anymore.

I am seeing a slight increase in organic traffic (±10%), but it's just a few days into the update—US health and wellness niche (affiliate website).

@Martin Ice Web
The same things happens with my site as well but we are experiencing it even before the update rolled out. Can I know which niche you are focusing on?

We are based on crypto and web3, and if you get back the rankings let me know and can you tell what steps are you into now?

Huge drop for our UK hotel site, lowest day of August at 63% of this month's average and one of the lowest for 2023.

It seems like there are some fluctuation (based on real-time report). Since the universal analytics is down, unable to see hourly search engine traffic. GA4 reports takes 24-48 hrs to update. So, we have to wait for the accurate results.

After 12 hours of my Googleday my hotel venue traffic is at 11% of its August daily average, yes that is -89%

JeffChang

Seeing some positive traffic improvements today.

Up 20-50% each hour.

@JeffChang
Just curious. Since you seem to be on the upward scale where abouts are you? I'm assuming America?
It's just in another thread on these forums I read that those from the UK and outside of the USA are often hit the hardest during these updates. As I'm from the UK. It is a bit worrying. Does anyone in America get knocked bad by these updates? Like at all?
In my niche I often see the same sites at the top. Over and over. Its like these updates are rigged.

Nothing here.

However on Jul 20th, my largest website --with 900k pages indexed-- started to show a +20% traffic boost (+15% in GSC's total impressions). It was an increase (that still remains) in the number of indexed pages, not in the rank.

Does anyone in America get knocked bad by these updates?

Of course they do. I've been impacted hard by several updates over the years on various sites. It happens to almost everyone at some point, to some degree. I see no reason why non-US sites would be impacted more. I've certainly seen no data to suggest that they are. Whoever suggested that should have significant data to support such an assertion.

This update shows once again that content doesn't count at all for Google and only backlinks an domain authority are important.

I'm from Germany and run a small blog with high-quality content. I invest a lot of time in creating my content, read countless scientific studies and therefore constantly receive positive feedback from my readers. The length of stay on my pages is therefore above average.

In my last post I objectively analyzed the active ingredients of a dietary supplement (affiliate product) in detail and comprehensively with evidence and scientific studies.

Now I have to watch that guest books, 404 pages, link farms, social media profiles, all of which only contain an affiliate link (no further text or content) to the product rank in front of me.

I don't build backlinks and my articles always rank in the top positions on BING, only on Google good content doesn't seem to count at all anymore.

Hard to disagree with Ingall. One of my pages has inconsistent content; some older posts with 500 words and a lot links perform better than posts with more than two thousand words well optimised content. I see slight ranking drops but nothing major.

@Fluff_Nutz
In my niche I often see the same sites at the top. Over and over. Its like these updates are rigged.

At the risk of repeating many of my posts one has to remember that G supposedly attempts to deliver its best results for that specific searcher and in the vast majority of cases this means localisation and especially so for Joe Public searches and purchases.

Therefore, especially so in the case of the USA its largest English language audience by far, its US G "commercial" sites will tend to dominate its SERPs likewise in the UK our SERPs, especially so in my industry, UK companies prevail. This is the same for many other countries and languages and, yes, quite often G screws-up and inserts a US site in completely inappropriate countries however I can tell you this has improved enormously in the past few years.

The most significant issue I see on a daily basis is that of G not knowing what to do with global bulk B2B sites such as my industry that involves thousands of manufacturers exporting to many countries. Fortunately I'm in a very well-established industry not subject to weekly / monthly fashion whims and demands plus most international buyers realised years ago that a generalised search was not enough, specifics need to be queried and my sites reflect this from the md 90s.

If you want to have some fun get a VPN that allows one to specify a different country VPN location and then do a search!

I have a year old site on the finance sector with almost no links that's up quite a bit over the last week beginning last weekend. We don't build links, we build content.

The only thing I know is that 5 hours agoa new page that I submitted in Google search console it is appeared right now on # 5 in 500.000 results for two words keyword...
What does it means : Old domains with hundreds of serious .edu .gov wiki etc links will always prevail.

As usual I see two completely different "effects".

My global site is dead, I'm talking Xmas Eve, Xmas Day, New Year's Day level of traffic. It's the end of the month and many in my European industry will be returning to work next week, hopefully.

My hotel venue site Saturday was very busy and above average however it should be since it's a holiday weekend in the UK plus we have the Superbikes 3+ day weekend, we also have several live bands on etc. To be honest I am sometimes puzzled as to why the site should be so busy on such a weekend since the hotel has been fully-booked for ages and most people are usually organised for holiday weekends therefore it always surprises me just how many visitors the live music page gets in the 6 hours hours before a gig!

Plus, believe this or not, our Xmas menu page went up a couple of weeks ago and already every Saturday in December is sold out ! I wish I could get some of my global clients organised like this.

Is it just me, or do many of these major/core algorithm updates tend to coincide with seasonal traffic changes in the U.S.? Examples I would cite include the May 2022 update happening right at Memorial Day or the September 2022 core update, which coincided which people going back-to-school, or the March 2023 core update, coinciding with Spring Break, or the - now - August 2023 core update, also coinciding with back-to-school. It's giving me that sneaking suspicion - I am CERTAIN I am not alone - that Google is trying to hide the impact of its algorithm updates so that it's tricky to discern whether the update or a seasonal trend impacted the traffic pattern of one's website, without significant commitment of resources to dig into the granularity of the traffic stats of one's site. Any thoughts on this?

Any thoughts on this?

Many of these updates seem to follow this pattern. But if you check out the timeline you will see a whole bunch that don't. Even so, I hold my breath as every major holiday approaches.
