I manage a website of 650k URLs, built over a database of commercial products, that includes 'title' of the product, 'description', 'dimensions', etc. Some of the products are well-detailed, but others have scarce information, so thousands of URLs could be considered as "thin content".

On May 3, the number of "Crawled - currently not indexed" pages within 'Google Search Console' jumped from 47k to 80k (+70%), and currently the level of of "Crawled - currently not indexed" is 101k.

I'm really worried about the fact that 16% of my URLs may be considered as "poor content". I am happy to hear similar experiences, or someone with any advice to cope with it.

In my experience the indexing info in GSC can sometimes be slow to update. So if there is a long time between two particular updates, the info could abrupty undergo a major change because it has to "catch up" with what happened in the meantime between the two updates.

As for your other point, google may be less likely to index a page if it is similar to other pages on the site, especially if all of them have thin content.
