Is it advisable to update old content or add new content instead?

Whether we should update old content or should we focus on adding new?

I needed help with my SEO strategy.

    1. I have a website with 100 pages, and those pages are ranking well. If I need to further boost my SEO, should I add more content on those existing 100 pages, or add more pages on the website instead of adding further content on the existing pages?

    2. I have a website with 200 pages, and those pages are not ranking well. Should I add more content on those existing 200 pages, or add more new pages on my website?

Please let me know your thoughts.

@spk rileyjorge ... Welcome to Webmasterworld!

In most cases it is a combination of both. Add new content when it makes sense and you have something new to offer, update existing content when changes have occurred so your pages remain current.

There is no "formula" for the x y or z, only common sense and serving your users/visitors to the site(s).

Your "seo" should be for people, not search engines!
