Website is not ranked in Google (all other search engines work)

SEO optimized website with indexed pages is not shown in Google

Last November we launched a new website (in Drupal). Now we have the problem that the website is still not displayed correctly in Google. With all other search engines the website is shown in the SERP for the relevant keywords. If we check the command "site:domain" in Google, 485 results are displayed – therefore the page is indexed and can be read by Google, correct? Nevertheless, the site does not even appear when searching for the brand name.

We submitted the sitemap to Google Search Console and around 2'000 pages were discovered there by Google (status: success). We are currently working with an SEO expert to contiue the on-page and off-page optimisations. One measure we took was to create a Google My Business profile. Now, however, even there our website keeps getting rejected by Google. We got the following message: "Apparently, there are problems with the automated indexing of your company website. Consequently, the website is marked as "bad" by the algorithm and removed in its entirety. This can happen when: The website is parked | The website cannot be crawled and subsequently cannot be given authority status by us | The website is offline".

We don't know how to continue here? There seems to be a problem with Google somewhere. Is there anyone who has had similar experiences and can give us tips.

Hi martina and welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

When you say that the website is "not displayed correctly" but that the site: operator returns indexed pages there may be technical difficulties. Have you reviewed settings related to crawling to see that they allow access to the pages you want indexed? Both in your platform settings and your robots.txt file? It can help if you can review your domain's access logs to see whether it is being regularly crawled.

The site: search operator does not return all pages of a domain but if it does return pages, then those pages are indexed. There was a recent discussion that might help understanding the limitations of using the "site:" operator, you can find the links here: [webmasterworld.com...]

The effort to create a GMB account might not be successful for a good number of reasons, which may or may not be related to crawling the site, but to details in the registration. Things like physical location and contact information might be involved. I would check the GMB profile to see errors or information they are waiting for. Until they verify the GMB account it can delay proper understanding of the business.

For certain niches/businesses the content itself may not be desired by g, thus rejected after an algo check. Not saying this is the reason, but it is among the many reasons why g might not give serp results for a site.

ALSO, since the advent of ChatGPT, any AI generated text is frowned upon. If one uses AI to develop content, make sure it is edited/revised by human writers before posting.
