I did a desktop search on how to draw a widget earlier (not the actual search) and the #1 result was a YouTube video that took up the entire first page.
- The video thumbnail was full width HUGE and Google added fake video controls to the image. It looks like a video you can press play on.
- Right under the video thumbnail image was the name of the video and the YouTube URL.
Thing is, if you click on the HUGE video thumbnail you do NOT get sent to YouTube, you get sent to a new page on Google and the video plays there. You can only go to YouTube to see the video if you click on the small title link underneath it. A single video is the entire above the fold area of a SERPs page.
What is it doing to YouTube content creator stats and their bottom line? I know what it's doing to every other site that would otherwise qualify to rank.
