UK Android Phone Delivering US SERPs

I have a Xiaomi Redmi 10S mobile phone bought directly from Xiaomi in the UK about a year ago. I have always used DDG as my default browser. I deleted most of the garbage that all phones come with and it is fairly well locked-down plus I security check the phone every night plus clear history and cache. I do not allow "find my phone" nor use maps.

Last night I decided to check using Chrome for the very first time my #1 keyword phrase and I simply could not believe what I saw ... 100% US results, US ads infinitum and a never-ending scrolling page.

There were no UK ads, no UK offering whatsoever, every organic result shown was a US company, not a single link to any company from the originating widget country, India, and believe me there are plenty of suppliers.

Ok, I get it, G filters all foreign companies out of its SERPs as much as it can to feature US ad payers, if it were my search engine I would probably do the same, but just HOW did my phone deliver solely US results?

I must also comment that if this is what US consumers are seeing then it is absolutely no wonder we have so many webmaster complaints about G's results, it was simply a classified ads page with the occasional organic randomly inserted.

I'm intrigued what my phone did, incidentally my DDG results were as expected for the UK, pretty good.

This is not new. I've seen this going on for a long time and it puts me off using mobile search.

Change your browser Settings to the region you wish to be in ;)
Easiest way to do that is in DDG

I use DDG all the time however why is my Chrome displaying G.us SERPs?

If I search using Chrome from a pc / laptop / tablet I get G.uk SERPs unless I specify a different country setting, why is my Android defaulting to the USA?

I've just tested Chrome using Google.co.uk and it has delivered G.uk results. I'm going to clear its cache etc and leave it on my second screen where very little gets used :-))
