Google Brings Continuous Scrolling to Desktop U.S. English

Google has said continuous scrolling is now on desktop in English language SERPs in the U.S.

When you reach the bottom of a search results page, you'll now be able to see up to six pages of results.

I've been seeeing this on/off for quite some while with my SERPs, certainly my US ones.

Could this be because so many people ignore the first two pages of google ads/properties to skip immediately to page three?

not to get too meta but i just tried a search for "Continuous Scrolling" on a US desktop and i got 10 blue links interrupted by "People also ask" and followed by "Related searches" and normal pagination links.

disappointed there wasn't even CS as an easter egg on that SERP...
