Hi there, Guys I need your assistance. For some reason Google reported some pages NOT fount on GSC ->Pages -> Not Found (404). 99% of those pages were gone >2 years ago. Some of them are stupid URLs based on /mt-bin/mt-search.cgi or Redirection extensions.

I don't have any idea - what to do? The list is big -for the website that has 400 real pages, there are >200 x 404 pages (according to GSC) .

Please let me know what I can do?

FYI: This is Wordpress website and there are no .html pages >2 years

All those pages have 404 response code >2 years (site was redesigned at the time )
P.s. No virus or malware on website

Absolutely nothing. At least 90% of what you see in GSC requires no action on your part; ignore them and the issue will go away.

I don't think there is anything you can do.

Since these pages existed, in the past, Google will keep checking them forever. A page gone, not existing today, might exist one day.

Just, check to be sure there are no links to these pages, anywhere on your site.

You might try to return a 410 code, but this is not really going to change something.

Thanks @Dimitri and @Lucy24

No, there aren't any links. As I said no .html pages and nothing related to this - https://www.domain.com/mt-bin/mt-search.cgi?****

So super old URL :-(

Heh! g (and b, too) keep checking for pages that disappeared a decade ago! Waste of time on their side, a marginal waste (to serve a 404) on my side.

Ignore.

Clicking "fixed" in search console will fail since you want them to stay 404. Redirecting them will now create redirect page errors in search console. Not everything reported by search console is an actual problem.
