- 100% above the fold is videos
- 100% of videos are youtube
- My search console says #1 but i'm actualy the 8th choice, amazon is 11th, manufacturer 14th.
- 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9,10,12,13 are all videos (11 out of 14 options), two unrelated, two low quality, one in a dif language with english title, perhaps one is well done.
- Google is becoming an extension of youtube for a growing number of queries.
- I won't be producing videos, it's untenable to expect SERP to remain this way, decision final, the other search engines aren't doing the same.

The Youtube spam is bad for some queries in our industry, but not nearly as bad as what you have described. Look beyond the placement of the videos and actually watch some of them, preferably from different IP addresses, browsers, etc. What I've found is an excessive amount of Big Pharma ads. These drug ads don't appear in text or shopping ads for our queries, but if they did I doubt few users would click on them because they are so out of place and irrelevant. But with video, Youtube can slip in these drug ads and as we all know drug companies have plenty of money after they gouge patients with high prices.

Here's the problem with Google's ads in my industry... We spend say $.80 per click, and with a 10% conversion rate it costs us $8.00 to convert a transaction on a $20 product. As the manufacturer, we still don't have margins to afford that so we stop/greatly reduce advertising on Google. My company is not alone as few can afford to feed Google's greed at these prices and product margins. Google then fills the void with videos that contain pricey drug ads and casino ads as @christianz notes in a thread [webmasterworld.com...]

Big Pharma and casinos have money to roll (pun intended). If Big Pharma has to jack up the cost of medicine to pay Youtube to push their drugs then they most certainly will. Alphabet/Youtube/Google doesn't care old ladies can't afford to pay $1,200+ a month for diabetes medication nor do they care if people gamble away their life savings. As I've said elsewhere, Google's actions don't match the social justice hype they speak of. If we look at what Youtube is peddling in the videos appearing in Google's SERPS, and those it harms, I'd argue Alphabet/Youtube/Google is socially unconscious.

Maybe something to do with corrupt congress striking down the self-preferencing anti-trust bill recently. So it's green light for rampant self preferencing.

The good news is that once it gets to 100% of SERP layout being YouTube videos, it won't get any worse any more :)

If you have something awesome to share there are people who want to see it, the rest is just the middleman.
