Bot traffic from Google

I have noticed a strange thing since this core update started. I am seeing a sudden traffic increase from 'India' where for most of the visits the average session time is zero and the bounce rate is 100%. The source/medium for this traffic is google/organic and Bing organic. The hostname for this traffic is www.mysitename.com. Traffic is coming from different states and cities of India. The service provider is 'not set'.

I have already checked the option 'Exclude all hits from known bots and spiders'.

Is this bot traffic? Am I missing something? How I can filter this traffic?

Everybody sees strange things in their logs occasionally. Usually they are harmless and not worth worrying about, and eventually go away on their own.

For many years I had a category of robots that I called "googleref". They were just like ordinary in-and-out robots, except that they gave
https://www.google.com/
as referer. Lately they seem to have got bored and went away; I might see one or two a month, if any.

Is your information coming from Analytics? It's a good idea to cross-check your raw access logs, especially if you're using something like GA that doesn't live on your server and isn't subject to your own access controls. You may well find that nobody actually visited your site; they just told GA they had done so.

In any case this doesn’t really sound like “known bots and spiders” so much as humans with infected machines--a phenomenon that's especially common from poorer countries where people can't necessarily keep their software up to date. If you felt like it, you could go to one of the standard sources (I use domaintools, but there are many others) and look up the offending IPs to see if they're human ISPs, server farms, or--especially likely for India--telephone systems.

Yes, my info is coming from Analytics. I checked the server logs but not found anything suspicious though there were hits from some IPs. I think I should wait and watch for sometime.
