I can't offer an opinion as to why you lost traffic without looking at your site but I am curious what the ratio of posts containing affiliate content to non-affiliate posts is.
Also, are there a lot of articles with "the best" or "the top 5" type subjects on the site?
I've seen an increase in the number of people reporting drastic traffic losses without the problem being obvious recently, some are describing their massive losses on youtube., example [youtube.com...]

The last two years have seen a rising number of topics/information that are being deprecated. There's not a lot you can do about that other than stop doing whatever is being deprecated!
That said, life on the web can still continue, you'll just have to find alternatives.
IF however, you are tied to adsense as your income source you will have to also find alternative revenue streams.
NOT SAYING YOU ARE DOING ANY OF THE ABOVE! Only that this has become a growing issue for some niches and industries and is not limited to g alone.
