Hi, we have analyzed our website and optimized every single page with respect to performance and guide lines as prescribed by google, even we are facing a continuous drops in rankings for most of our pages and blogs. Also analyzing it after a huge off page work and building quality backlinks more than our competitors, this is the situation for the past few months the rankings drops further even working with off page and on page. Compared our site with the competitors even with paid tools though we have better backlinks, referring domains and link quality we are losing the google ranks. <snip>

Hi DanielGriffin and welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

We don't do site reviews here, but I can say you have a lot of company in the same boat right now. Millions of sites were affected in the two recent updates since May and most are hoping that some kind of correction will be coming - soon. Personally I am not making any changes because in the past, Google has been known to take note of sites that make big changes trying to recover. If you do make changes, they should be beneficial to your visitors and not just bigger, better "seo".

And one thing we all must bear in mind is that a "correction" may never come and if it were to it may possibly make things worse ... For you, for me, for anyone.

The fact is that none of us know what Google's perceived prioritiy(ies) is / are, whilst it posts semi-useful guidelines none of us can say for certainty do this or do that, if we could then the algo wouldn't be that much of a deciding factor, would it?

That is because free or paid tools, have nothing to do with Google... also, backlinks have been abused so much in the past, that I doubt it has significant value now, or you need to have links from very-very-very established sites, within the context of an article, or eventually in their references/sources links.

Google and other search engines can tell if backlinks are natural, or not. I bet that unatural backlinks, can send a negative signal. But that is just my thought.

@DanielGriffin ... glad to have at Webmasterworld.

What is your site age? How frequently do you update/fresh content? How much adsense to you apply to EACH PAGE? Do you run affiliate? Is your SEO obvious? Over reliance on keywords? Competitive niche? Does your site embrace any part of Entertainment, music, film, or sports venues? Medical, health or other? Tech? All of these have been deprecated by G over the last 10 years unless you are a MAJOR AUTHORITY/SOURCE for those.

Also note that in the last year or so g has become VERY aggressive regarding what gets into their serps as the top of the list is mostly their stuff or answer boxes, anything to keep eyeballs on their page, not yours.

That said---hang in there! Users are becoming a bit more savvy as the months roll by and are skipping the top serps to find what they are looking for on page two, three or...

Times change. Just don't change YOUR times chasing something that is more difficult to "engineer" with SEO.

The site is almost 2 years old and its service based company website with all the optimization done on the website it remains the same. The ranking drops starts from last December and the site is still experiencing the drop even after optimizing the performance to the extent.

Hi Daniel. I have noticed a decline in traffic since December too. I have lost ranking on a few keywords but I am not sure it's a decline in referalls from google or just the easing of Covid restrictions in the UK. We were ridiculously busy all throughout the pandemic and I think we probably served customers from this year last year if that makes sense. Traffic levels have definitely returned to pre covid levels and what with looking recession etc I think that people just may not be searching and buying. I don't know what industry you are in so may not be applicable (and I could be wrong and it's google chipped our traffic away)
