Google Trends is a way to see samples of search requests, and you probably know all about it. If you don't, it's a helpful resource. If used creatively, you may be able to find opportunities for your own marketing and development, and for new content on your site, depending upon your niche. You can find out more on how to use Google Trends here [medium.com...]

If you're not using it, try it and see if it helps.

This looks to me like something that spammers would try to take advantage of.

You don't need to be a spammer to take advantage of information about search queries. Remember when search queries were part of your log data? That is gone now, but it really helps to know what terms people use to find things so you can find related terms for your content and flesh out content to attract more visitors. ;)

not2easy -- I was thinking of the type of spammer who repeatedly jumps from trend to trend, trying to make a quick buck before more honest people can adapt their established websites to the new information.

1. Spammers take advantage of web hosting...

2. Just because spammers use it doesn't preclude normal users from using something.

My problem with Google trends isn't the spammers, it's the fact that the best key phrases I've ever known, and been able to top rank for, sometimes show up as unimportant. I've also had #1 results for terms Trends says are heavily searched but really aren't.

It's just another tool but I would not rely on it entirely else you'll miss a lot of content opportunities.

about spammers: They are more likely to look up your site on popular ranking data harvester services to see what it ranks for and to try and snipe your best stuff. If it's helful to real webmasters it's helpful to spammers. Those services REALLY should require you to PROVE you have a legit site to use, they hurt a dozen sites for every site they help.
