I really don't know what's happening. I completely revised my website a year ago and everything was fine. A week ago, I started getting notices that some of my pages were not mobile friendly. Issues were text too small, touchpoints too close together, and screen size too wide.

Have there been any changes in Google that would suddenly make my pages have mobile usability issues?

I did change some content on five pages that were not appearing as high as I wanted them to you but I'm suddenly getting notifications that 16 Pages have issues.

Have you used Google's tools to evaluate the issues? They rolled out new testing tools over the past several months and those tools can show you what needs work and suggestions to fix any such issues.

About a week ago Google rolled out new Page Experience Update for Desktop: [webmasterworld.com...]

There links there for the Mobile Page Experience tools also.

Peace first.

Then, your quesiton :
Why

you bring the answer yourself :
Issues were text too small, touchpoints too close together, and screen size too wide.

You can use the Lighthouse dev tool , in Chromium / Chrome, to get a precise analysis of your pages, and see which points need to be reworked.

It is not uncommon to see false positives, these could be caused by:
- Google showing results for pages in their index that are very old.
- Dynamic content on the page that when in a certain state causes issues with the layout.
- Just cause... Google's tools aren't perfect.

@Dimitri suggestion to use Lighthouse dev tools is good, but first you should carefully review the information provided in GSC. Click on the link of the offending page, at the top right it should show you the last crawled data. Then below that click the "Test Live Page" link, this will test the page in real-time and show you where the problem(s) is/are. You can then fix the issue and test it with Lighthouse.

If you do find that it was a false positive, don't worry about it. Click the "validate fix" and it should resolve itself.

I often get odd pages being reported across a several domains. Always one popping up somewhere.

I used to race to discover which one need attention, but no longer bother because the flag always disappears in a few days time. It is my guess that things are constantly being tweaked, errors occurring and eventually being restored or fixed.

Anyway, so what if text is small on a mobile device, they can always zoom in.
