Keywords position not changing

I have been building quality backlinks to our service page for the last 6 months. But the position of my keywords gets unchanged. Sometimes it goes to lower. And some of the new websites without any quality backlinks (17 nofollow+1dofollow) outranking us for most of the competitive keywords. Why does my website ranking not change even after getting high authority links?

Hello premjithbpk31 and welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

Why does my website ranking not change even after getting high authority links?

This is because backlinks do not equal higher rank for keywords on their own merit. Backlinks are one factor. If
the only change in 6 months is more backlinks, nothing much will change in how the site is ranked. If the content supporting your keywords has improved that can help the ranking, but because not all backlinks have value, you can't count on only backlinks to do the job of increasing the site's rank and value.

The value of a backlink is not determined only on "follow" or "nofollow". A freely given nofollow backlink from an authority site - especially a site relevant to your topic - is worth far more than auto-generated follow backlinks.

Work on user experience to boost rank and to generate more valuable backlinks as your visitors share their experience with others.

- Make sure the content is useful for visitors
- Make sure the page title conveys that it is

Google will gladly rank you better if you meet BOTH of those criteria. Make sure you're not using the same title another site already did and try to avoid being biased in your self-evaluations. Try to help your visitors as best you can. Good luck.
