Hi guys. I have just a concern. Regarding domain redirection and effect of SEO on this.
Here's the case:
For example, this is my website, DOMAIN[.]COM
Then to protect my domain, I have bought other popular TLDs, like DOMAIN[.]NET and DOMAIN[.]ORG

Is it okay to redirect the DOMAIN[.]NET and DOMAIN[.]ORG to DOMAIN[.]COM

Are there any effects on this? Will there be a positive or negative effect for the main DOMAIN[.]COM?

Thanks!

I have several domains in the form mytrademark.com, of which mytrademark.com is the active trading domain. All other domains - mytrademark.co.uk, etc. - 301 to mytrademark.com. None of the inactive domains have links to them, or any active pages that could link to anything else, and other than in the relevant domain register they are not indexed anywhere.

A couple of the inactive domains were registered at the same time as I registered the .com version, and have redirected in this way for over 20 years. However, others have been added and redirected as they became available, and I have seen no effect of this whatsoever - positive or negative - on SERPs.

If you think about it, it shouldn't have any SEO effect, because as far as SEs are concerned the inactive domains are not there. Their purpose is to provide additional trade mark protection, and to ensure that anyone who mistakenly enters the right name but the wrong TLD finds my site. They are not there to pass information to SEs.

This wouldn't apply if the redirecting domains were or had ever been active or received links from other sites. The effect, in that case, couldn't be predicted from what you have already said here.

@Willburforce

Thanks for this sir.

So, it is completely safe, as long as the "DOMAIN[.]NET and DOMAIN[.]ORG" were inactive and not linked to other websites?

By the way, how to redirect "DOMAIN[.]NET and DOMAIN[.]ORG" to DOMAIN[.]COM?

Thanks!

By the way, how to redirect "DOMAIN[.]NET and DOMAIN[.]ORG" to DOMAIN[.]COM?

configure a domain name server for those hostnames (.net & .org) and configure those virtual hosts (.net & .org) on your web server and then configure those virtual hosts (.net & .org) to redirect requests for those hostnames (.net & .org) to your .com hostname.
