Google's John Mueller does a quick video answering questions about domains. Much of it we already know, and is quite user objective, however, one of the useful tips came right at the end about international domains. The video is only a couple of minutes long.

Useful confirmation for what most know, but also a nice gesture from g to share "common knowledge" for everyone else!

We shall see very soon IF this is correct since on 1st Jan 2022 I moved an entire well-ranking site from a cctld to a gtld as an experiment I've wanted to try for years!
Honestly, I have absolutely no idea what to expect but it is a question that has bugged me since the mid noughties.

As of today 1 page.newgtld ranking, a few pages.oldcctld still there, the remainder have all disappeared from the G.uk SERPs for the moment.
As such I'm leaving it as-is until next weekend but will then most probably move it to a .com I have.

I have to add to my last post. After reviewing the G.uk results I did a G.com test and found severaal of my pages have been "promoted" sideways and are already ranking extremely well under their new.gtld. This is now becoming very interesting :-)

Do remember that Google loves to discover new stuff. Give it a month or two when it should have all settled.

Some times G loves new stuff however some times G completel and inexplicably ignores it.
I have over the past 3-4 years moved several well-ranking sites for various reasons usually oldcom to newcom or olduk to newuk but I have never done cctld to gtld. I have done com to uk.
My previous experiences were very good with completed moves varying between 2-4 weeks depending upon on the site size however this is obviously different with it being cctld to gtld.
I am deliberately not naming the gtld since I want to see IF it is actually treated the same as C/N/O. It has been a curiosity to me for many years and I do not know if anyone has ever tried it before and I realise that if successful then it could have an impact on the domain name market.

OK, call me impatient if you want to but after just over a month I'm abandoning this experiment.
