Google has updated its Overview of Search Operators in the advanced SEO section of its site.

You can find it here Overview of Google search operators [developers.google.com]

inurl: is not mentioned and yet I find it far more reliable than site: these days for verifying that a page is known to Google. It can also be used for prefix match queries although sometimes (but not always) it works very differently when you give it just a domain rather than domain plus folders.

Google's guidance states that site: queries might be limited due to their limiting indexing of a particular domain. I wish I could believe that, but what I see sometimes makes me wonder whether or not there is some sort of 'randomiser' applied to these queries.
