Google has updated its document titled "How HTTP status codes, and network and DNS errors affect Google Search" and it's worth a read, even if you are familiar with status codes and DNS errors. The issues described on the page generate the corresponding error in the Search Console's Crawl Stats Report.

418 status codes aren't covered.
Well, I would devoutly hope the Googlebot never encounters one--meaning that, in a sense, they can’t know there is such a thing. (My host uses them for mod_security, so they can be readily distinguished from the 403s generated by individual sites’ access controls.)
