By accident I stumbled upon a
Google help page for European publishers [support.google.com], recommending making settings in GSC, or adding max-snippet and max-image-preview robot tags to the pages of sites targeting France. Without these settings, Google will only show the site title and URL in the SERPs.
I wasn't targeting France in the past, but for one of my new sites, France is now a lucrative market.
Can anyone share some experiences in the after using these settings? Does it only apply to news related sites as the document suggests, or is the restriction to display snippets and images broader than that? And does it only affect how the listing looks in the SERPs or does it also influence the position in the SERP?
