Hello,

I am right now working on a website which is a normal product based website with objective of generating leads (via form capture).
This website, in its niche, performs on top 5 rank in SERP. This website, till now was catering to Indian audience, majorly.

Now as a part of the strategy we want to move this website to the global audience. The global facility would have an eComm functionality for users to buy it online.

I need experts opinion on,....
1. we are not in favor of changing the domain for outside India audience.
2. Yet, we want outside India audience to see eComm website and not existing static website.

Kindly suggest me best approach for this...

First, your domain is your pot of gold, no matter the gtld. It is how the business was built and will continue to shine. That said, purchase the known .com, .net and .org versions and redirect all those to your domain.

As for ecommerce, make sure your cart supports international monies, and where applicable, individual states within each.

As for the static site, redirection is your best tool.

Good luck!

I know almost nothing about this area. Nevertheless, I would say to not touch your existing site, which is already so successful. Instead, look for a way to reach your new goals that doesn't involve it at all.

But as I said, I know almost nothing about this, so you are welcome to ignore me

Hello Tangor, thanks for your reply. I agree to your point about the GOLD that we have created foe the domain in the discussion. It has been a year of constant SEO efforts that has build the value for that domain.

Since my entire team knows about risk attached if we mis-handle the domain for upcoming eComm facility on it, we could loose the ranking/value of the same. This is the reason I am here to have thoughts from the experienced members who can suggest some practice to tackle this.

I am ready to explain you in detail on what I meant on my earlier post.....

For Indian audience we do not want to show eComm facility. For them it would be a normal product driven static website, where visitors can fill in form to get trial of the product.

For outside India, we want to eComm facility where visitors can buy the product via cart and pay online via payment gateway. (I already have payment gateway that supports all the major international currencies)

now since we have 2 different types of pages to address 2 different types of purpose, what should be the best way to build URL for the same ?

is it
in{dot}something{dot}com
AND
global{dot}something{dot}com

PS: I sense, we could loose value of the parent domain here.

I hope now you get my query...Looking forward to the suggestions from the experts
