I have a new e-commerce project that has 40 products page. I want to know how many keywords or amount of keywords I should select for each product page and where should I place them in content.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld Manit
I want to know how many keywords or amount of keywords

Rude question for you!

Is this the first time you have ever had to do this?

There is no "fixed" number, ensure your products and images are named correctly, that your title and meta description reflects the product and that the on-page information reads naturally, not over-stuffed, and then ... wait.

There is no magic number of 'enough' or 'too many' keywords or their placement. Focusing on keywords can lead you away from what people want to know about the product. It is important that any text that accompanies a product helps the customer have a complete understanding of the product.

Too often you find products without the specific information that you need to make a choice. For 40 product pages you need to include size or dimensions, material, finish or color and then a good description of the product. If there are options, that is helpful to know.

Thanks, I got your point. There is one more thing I would like to ask. What should be the limit of product description in e-commerce site. My website is related to natural and herbal products so how many words I should use for product description.

Here's the bizarre thing, there is actually no minimum nor maximum limit, it all depends on how much you actually want your potential visitors to understand your product.

I can rank a product page for a single product image only using the title and meta description however if you want the possibility for any search engine to rank the product page then you need to feed it more relevant and pertinent information however do not go overboard because it may then seem as though you're spamming simply for the sake of it.

Also, how much do your potential visitors want / need to know about the product?

For instance my approach to my widget industry for B2B information is presented totally different to B2C.

My B2B product pages have lots of valuable information that architects / specifiers legally NEED to know together with images etc, the B2C visitors may / may not want to know where the product is from however they are generally much more interested in the aesthetics of the product and examples of it in situ.

This is from where you may get "long tail" keyword visitors.

The important thing is not to over-stuff a page with the product keyword but do include any "crazy" or light-hearted genuine information that no one else has thought of including.

I have high-ranking pages with very few kew keywords, I have high-ranking pages with 500-1,000 descriptions, I have in-depth pages with 2,000+ words.

One thing to consider though, it is very, very easy to overload an ecommerce product page and IF your visitors are buying on mobile they tend to prefer shorter pages therefore remember:

Accuracy, conciseness, relevancy, image quality, site speed, overall site design that must be responsive.

Anything else?
