Has anyone else noticed a dramatic drop in pages crawled around December 12?
I saw this at a previous company I worked for and it was related to some cloud server settings that were throwing 500s at googlebot.
I'm trying to convince developers who keep sending me articles about BERT that this is not an algorithm issue which would affect traffic, but rather a separate report in Search Console (the legacy Crawl Stats) that is showing a dramatic drop in googlebot activity. Either that or find evidence that this is something that changed in the reporting that is unrelated to anything we did specifically.
