How To Get featured in google Alerts

I am working on Health Journalism Portal. Daily we are posting 15-20 stories on website. website is being crawled on daily basis. Now we want Google alerts to include our website in their list on a particular topic. Please help me how to achieve this.

Have you written any content for this particular topic and submitted it to Google to be indexed?
Have you tried to get a 1 st page placement for particular topic keyword or long-tail keywords?

Do you submit any of the content to a Newsfeed? It does seem that Google will Alert on these types of pages 1st.
