Google's search liaison, Danny Sullivan, has said that the duplication of a featured snippet will now no longer be repeated in SERPs.

If a web page listing is elevated into the featured snippet position, we no longer repeat the listing in the search results. This declutters the results & helps users locate relevant information more easily. Featured snippets count as one of the ten web page listings we show.

Mod note: I posted this separated from the main update thread so it doesn't get lost in the discussion.

I may have missed it however is there any method to report incorrect / inaccurate featured snippets since I see many in my widget trade?

There is a "feedback" where you can report errors. I have used this before and hadn't seen any changes, so, my guess is, google is probably swamped with feedback.

If it's spam, you report is through this page. Note, you have to log in to your account to reports spam. [support.google.com...]

They are messing about now, my SERPs are fluctuating again, FS is changing by the hour, what a mess ... again.

Makes sense to me. As a searcher, I find it annoying (or at least distracting) when the same page shows up in two places on the SERP.

I have quite a few featured snippets and the URL shows up as number 11, the snippet is number one. The question is if you lose the FS do you stay at number eleven or move back to one of the top three spots. :)

Saw this posted on Reddit but sharing to help...

To see your normal, organic placement when you fill the featured snippet. Add "&num=9" the end of the URL in your browser after performing your search. It drops the featured snippet and shows your organic place.

Just a heads up. We removed our feature snippet on Friday with nosnippet meta code. It removed the annoying right hand side feature snippet box and our organic position (position 2) came back. BUT it had no description and i really did not like the way it looked.

Anyway, this morning, as i know that Google mentioned that they will soon depreciate the right hand side feature snippet box, i decided to put it back by removing the meta code. Fetched the page and now have both the right hand side feature snippet box AND organic. Not sure if i can link to it but just put up a post about it with images on linkedin.

Seeing no changes on my end. (Desktop)

With left-side Featured Snippet at #1 ranking, no other organic results from our site show on the same page.

Before the previous change, we occupied th FS, as well as the #1 organic placements.

Well there are many different structures.
1) totally horizontal domination of owning the 1st organic position (left side) and the FS on the right side
2) having the FS on the top and under it the 1st organic position
3) having just the FS with no organic result
