I got an error notice from Google that a site is not mobile friendly because a certain image wasn't found. It listed a bogus name like this: example.com/images-store/?C=N;O=D

I checked the server and there is no image with that name.
I ran the site through checkbot and the relevant page has no missing images
I also checked the page that image would have been on with the google friendly tester and it is mobile friendly.

Is this another bogus warning from Google, or.....?

I get this stuff all the time. If it is not there, never has been there, never will be there, that's g's problem, not yours.

Contrary to popular believe, g does make mistakes, in fact, given their size and breadth, perhaps a billion mistakes PER DAY. :)

From your example that's not even an image, so don't worry about it.

I suspect others will say something else. :)

There’s a currently running thread about predictions for 2020. I didn’t think of it at the time, but headlines involving “GSC error” and “nonexistent” will always be a safe bet.

GSC is useful for SOME things, but do not RELY on it ... more often that not it is filled with false positives (or negatives) and will scare the pants off the easily frightened (as in "Will this affect my revenue?/?/?/?/?/?")

If the "error" is for something that does not exist on your site then move on. However, if it is about something that IS on your site, address it immediately!

Life is too short to overthink things. ... thinking is hard enough! :)
