Early in 2019, there were many reports of sites having their home page (index.html or index.php) totally obliterated from the serps.
John Mueller had announced that this was a Google bug and by April, he claimed this was fixed. Well, then recent core update seems to have resurrected this bug as some (myself included) are seeing the problem again. In addition, the site I am working on has also lost ALL images in the image index. These were all original photos sent in from site members, all unique and many water marked. The remaining images I managed to find are being hosted on scraper sites only. Not one can be found to point back to the original owners site. Anyone else seeing this bug again?
To check for missing pages, try using the URL inspection tool found within the Google Search Console.
I found mine, but they still don't appear in the SERPs.
