I decided on the Google SEO News and Discussion forum as the implications negate Google SEO as it exists, which is the prime interest of many/most here. If mods think otherwise please move as appropriate.

AMP, AMP Stories, AMP in email, Mini-apps, Portals...

Google is steadily adapting it's search product and accustoming it's users (and publishers) to a variation of WeChat (Chinese cross-domain messaging, mobile payment, and SM app with a billion monthly users). Whereas WeChat is basically 1-million plus (mini-)apps within an app, Google looks to be developing an n-apps within a search product.

Or, given time will search have done it's historic bit and morph into Eric Schmidt's 'Serendipity Engine' wherein autonomous search no longer requires a discrete 'engine', queries always running in the background across apps and devices?

Who needs all those separate apps on your mobile home screen when One app to rule them all, One app to find them, One app to bring them all and in the Googleplex bind them is so ummm inclusive and ummm user friendly ummm saving so much time for everyone?

AMP Stories to get dedicated placement [venturebeat.com]

Google says it will soon introduce a "dedicated placement" in Google Search for AMP Stories in specific categories, like travel, along with components that let AMP Story creators embed interactive content.

The dedicated placement — a carousel of visual covers from Stories that Google first demoed at AMP Conf in Tokyo earlier this year — will appear beneath the Search bar on mobile

That wall keeps getting higher.

AMP Stories, an open source library that enables publishers to build web-based, Snapchat-like flipbooks with slick graphics, animations, videos, and streaming audio

Somehow that description gives me the mental image of children's books.

That is pretty much here with some aspects of Google, especially on mobile. Android does lock a user in to an extent, and mobile is only going to continue to grow.

For Google, its problem is monetizing mobile, but its working on it.
