SERP showing the wrong date stamp

For one of our sites, for an event page the SERP result is showing wrong dates. The page was published in mid 2018 and there is no 2017 footprint. Infact the page did not exist back then. Still wondering where is google getting the 2017 signal from?

We checked our XML sitemap, content, schemas and there is no 2017 signal.Search for <snip> and the result page is showing date 'Now 23,2017' in description for the URL <snip>. This is going to discourage people from clicking on it...

Anybody have experience with this? I've noticed Google fluctuates between showing last updated date or maybe not showing a date at all . But this one is different..

Thank you in advance!

I'd worry less about where Google is pulling the bad information and worry more why your page isn't pushing good information into Google. I'd add the date to your page (top & bottom of the content) & make sure it is coded properly in the schema, database and anywhere else to make it very clear to Google. Google tends to reward fresh content so make it easy for Google to recognize your content is fresh and current.
