Google ignores internal links to product pages?

In Googles new Search Console (and old Webmaster Tools as well) the internal link report omits links to product pages at one project. Those product pages are indexed and show up in Google SERPs (albeit not on top).

It occurs as if Google has a "list" of product names (in this case hotels) which are treated differently than normal pages and this even shows in GSC.

Somehow reminds me of the old times where we had a so called secondary index.

So far, there is only one product page that slipped thru - because the name of the product changed recently and it appears as if by that this one isn't yet on googles list of "to-be-treated specially" pages.

Has anyone here experienced sth. similar with Google?

Procut category pages seem to be doing fine, it's only the product pages itself that are affected.

Google's tool reports are famously buggy. Also, the report may only show top pages and truncate those nested.

But in this case I don't see it as a bug but as a - probably unintended - hint by Google. All other internal links show up correctly, also those ones that are nested further down or have less internal link juice pointed at them.

So as I do not trust most of the reports by GSC this "not report" is interesting imho.
