Hi so my site had some code that was resulting in misconfigured URLs in the thousands. I checked Google Search Console and indeed google had not indexed thousands of misconfigured urls which is OK.

Well I fixed the misconfigured URL issue and then re-spidered my website and submitted new sitemaps to Google Search Console.

Is there anything I need to to do fix this issue besides now waiting for the index to be fixed itself? Thanks!

Probably nothing else.

Keep watch on the crawl error report in GSC. If you start to see a lot of those misconfigured URLs, consider if you're able to block any via the Parameters tool.

Depending of what you mean by misconfigured URL, but, if from these URLs you can tell what was the original target, you can write a script which will redirect these misconfigured URLs to their correct URL with a 301 code.

Were the requests receiving 404 responses? If so, you don't necessarily have to do anything. When a given URL has never returned anything but a 404--and, of course, nothing on your site links to it--Google won't keep requesting it forever. Unlike a certain other search engine one could name.
