No Google Mobile First Indexing Notice - Site Experiencing Issues

I work on a site that is primarily JS driven. It is responsive. Some content pages in Google's fetch and render tool appear just fine in desktop, but not in mobile. They've seen a drop in rankings for these pages and the homepage is ranking rather than the target content page (not an issue previously). There are no issues with robots.txt, noindex or canonical tags. We haven't received the mobile first index notice from google. I did receive it for one very small client, but not for this particular site. The issues started around the same time as the Aug 1 update. Anyone else seen indications of mobile first indexing without the notice from Google?

Hi carrieeller,

Only 2 of my 3 sites has received the "you're now in the mobile-first index" email. All three are responsive and all pages pass the checks.

Desktop pages *do* get added to the mobile-first index, but not pages with significant errors that Googlebot can't render.

This is a transition period, it's hard to guess what is going on, and how things are handled about mobile first index an historical index.

Now, this might be off topic, but you should work on the reason your site is not rendering fine on mobile, in spite of being responsive.
