For those of you in Google News how much traffic do you get a day?

Im wondering if Google NEws is still a good traffic driver, I have a website in there for 10 years and the past several years I receive minimal traffic to my website

I would say I get maybe 16 visits a day from google news currently.

I typical post up 4 articles a week, my writers will attend events and report on them all original well written and informative.

Recently I read that John Mu said article frequency has no affect on ranking, some say article frequency does have an affect in terms of google news

This is what the twitter user asked John Mu who works for google

Do Google's algorithms take into account the frequency/volume/schedule of publishing new content for a site? Say a site publishes 5 new URLs daily, but then begins to publish 2-3 instead. Does that make Google looks differently at the site?

and this was Johns reply

Nope. A site isn't a machine that pumps out content at a fixed rate. Well, it shouldn't be :-).

Google News is like Google Search, traffic will vary greatly depending on what topics you cover & how well you rank. Google News still drives a huge amount of traffic but only if you cover popular topics and rank well.

Google has been tightening up the quality standards for News publishers. It has also made some changes to where News headlines are shown making some spammy traffic schemes no longer viable (ie auto generated company stock articles no longer being featured in Google finance)

This is like for everything, if your topic interests lot of people, then chances are tons of other sites are posting about the same topic, and you get lost in the mass.

In the other hand if your topic belongs to a niche, there are less people concerned, but also less concurrence from other sites.

But in all events, it's a chance to be featured in the Google News. It gives you an extra exposure, and also, other sites might quote (with a link hopefully).

Negligible if you are only on G News. Whenever I'm on Top Stories, I easily get 10K visits on 2-3 topics but it's not really worth as AMP page makes no $$

as AMP page makes no $$

It might be mobile users being harder to monetize than desktop on, and not AMP itself. Also, even if this traffic is not earning you enough money, it should still contribute to establish your brand and authority in your domain.

I cover a niche not a broad spectrum news site that couples multiple categories of news from politics, to entertainment

my niche is just a sport site thats all

I dont know how to rank in google news at all, I used to get top stories every single time I put an article, I cant even get that

Most of my traffic comes from my twitter or social media posts.

from news I get like 15 visits a day on average, its baffling.

I saw a 2 year old news site who had top stories, he wasn't famous like cnn or ny times yet they had 100k backlinks, my website has been in gogle news for 10 years and only has 3k backlinks.

I have no clue how to build backlinks, im just a blogger, all I know is my topic, google makes it hard making us fix stuff on website, I dont have time to focus on content because im trying to learn this seo stuff and its painful since its like jargon to me to understand.

Google help told me never to request backlinks or try to build them just focus on content and have backlinks appear organically. I did that by dishing out articles yet no backlinks.

I noticed people on google help forums saying AMP hurts their income from adsense, makes me question if I should try it for my niche news blog
