Mod's note: Earlier today I posted this news regarding official announcement that the Mobile First index is being rolled out slowly and being tested. I felt that it might account for some of the volatility we've been seeing.

Response and observations have been so strong on this thread that I've decided to split it off to its own discussion.

See...

Has anyone ever experienced some of their KWs just completely vanishing (not simply dropping in ranking) from the SERPs? OR has anyone experienced their KWs completely vanishing and ranking somewhere far under the wrong URL parameter (not the primary canonical)?

Is analytics reporting delayed for anyone? Delayed by 2 and a half hour here!

Anyone seeing any positive lifts from this tweak over the weekend. I've certainly seen some. We have done a lot of work on mobile over the past 4 months. Seems to have paid off. We're an ecom site. Just in the process of trying to AMP some pages.

I was reading this topic from september 2017 wehn i registered too same drop in organic traffic.

After i decided to stay silent because usuaally for the kind of seo i'm expert on, no one wanna share and understand nothing.

I'm doing SEO for adult sites. Many sites from long long time.

I'm speaking about google.it ( i mean italian market )

Now as many of people here also on adult we registered a huge drop in traffic that date 19 of septmber. The drop happen all at same time on 20 websites all not connected together and on total different server IP class and so on.

In some of them was a reduction 20 % on some other of 50%.

What i noticed on google .it is that fro mthat dates started to grow all big domain sites. I mean before on italian keyword for adult famous english site was present but in very low positions. I'm speaking about xhamster, #*$!hub, you#*$!, xvideos, xnxxx.

Right now and week after week they grown and now they are on top of all ITALIAN searches.

Yes they are indexed for their italian subdomain, but on their pages 90% of content is in english, i nsome case 100% english and also they dont have a subdomain for italay an no any tag.

Ok i know adult is plenty of spam, but i wanted to share this because looks twhat is changes finished to affect also adult. And google right now on adult field is providing absolutly not relevant search rtesult. If i'm italian i'm looking for real italin sites., Not for a partial translated or no transalted at all english page.

Thanks for you attention.

@Nexus868 Regardless of industry I believe there is always something for all to be learned. I just don't think you are supposed to mention any sites here,

In my experience in unrelated verticals, you will see an English site with high authority outrank local sites. Brand authority at times will outrank localisations,

We have seen in spammy niches many cases where even on our own sites google will show the English page even though we have a language equivalent.

I do think this is somewhat of an anomaly but more prevalent in spammy niches, unfortunately. My best guess would be to build more authority into your domains. Localisation will only go that far.

That's my guess anyway.
