This may already be covered, but I couldn't find the discussion.

Looking through Google Webmaster Tools, I see a major drop in Index Status for all of my sites. On 4/23/17, my largest site had 113,899 pages indexed, which was slightly lower than the 132,829 from January 1.

But after that I see a consistent drop, so that by today it only has 11,402 pages indexed.

I also noticed a drop in revenue and Adsense RPM starting around this time, so I can't help but wonder if they're related.

I don't see anything on or near 4/23/17 listed here:

[support.google.com...]

Was there a major Google update that would have had an impact on this? Or something else I should be looking at in my own coding? I don't see any real problems listed anywhere in Webmaster Tools.

Thanks for the links. I'm honestly not sure how search engine placement even works anymore... I searched for something on my phone, and my girlfriend searched the exact same phrase on her phone while sitting next to me, and we had totally different results.

My concern, though, is that revenue dropped consistent with the index drop. So while others said that it was more fair and a good thing, it definitely hasn't been good for me!

The second link came from our front page.

@csdude55 I am seeing the same drop on the same date and it has continued consistently. I reached a plateau in early July and I am hoping it wont drop any further. However, my traffic began to climb to new heights after the drop. So I really don't get it. Currently I have only a little more than 5% of the site indexed? I have many millions of static pages. I am completely baffled, but since my traffic and revenue is up I am not too worried.

Reminder: Check your raw logs to see if those pages NOT being indexed are still getting hits (perhaps from internal site links) by users. Your entry points may be getting refined by the SEs, but your site use still covers those pages.

Else, there's no sense in having more than 10k (or so) pages max. :) (if the smilie isn't obvious, that's a joke, kiddies!)
