According to a post at SEL, Google Posts [webmasterworld.com] are removed after seven days, with the exception of events, which will be deleted after the event. Each time the deadline is close, Google is issuing a notification to users that their posts are about to disappear, giving users time to post something new.

It's the internet, the content will become "unique" once it expires so expect vast amounts of scrapers to snap it up for later use.

I don't think it's a good move, when I search for good info online I don't want to have to hope it was reposted within the last week... and I'm certainly not going to repost any advice I share once per week. Lol.

I think Google is looking at it from an "ask a question" and we'll hopefully get you an answer within the week. If you consider the same questions get asked over and over.. I don't know, this is probably not a permanent thing but more of a test.
