Breadcrumb trail in Google SERPs

Hello,

for e-commerce sites usually the trail is shown like this:

homepage › category1 › category2

But occasionally the product name is also included:

homepage › category1 › category2 › product name

Maybe an "incompetent" question, but do you know if the latter one improves SEO?

I have no idea for seo, but I have implemented

homepage › category1 › category2 › product name

And, for the product page, Google only shows:

homepage › category1 › category2

Actually Google truncates my breadcrumbs so again for a product page:

homepage › ... category2 › category3
