A few things to start investigating...
Double check your https migration, did you accidentally create a redirect circle or another problem?
Check out your backlinks. I've seen some sites have a flash landing page with no content on the home page so most of the links go to internal pages and the homepage has almost no backlinks Things like this can lead to your homepage being ignored.
Duplicate content. See if someone has copied your homepage, your page might be filtered out of serps due to duplicate content filters.
Make sure your page really disappeared and isn't just ranking lower. If you recently made a big change to content or links you could have triggered a spam penalty which demoted the rankings for the just the homepage.

Did the home page rank for keywords? And if so, were those rankings shifted to the inner pages? Or did you lose ranking for those keywords altogether?

If it is a brand name, brand keyword, then it is quite possible others simply out rank you.
Have you done a site:url to see if the page is actually GONE?

You should check all your backlinks and make sure you are not getting any spam links.
