I recently launch a new website which replaced my old 10 year old website. I had approximately 3,000 301 redirects from old pages to new pages, and I have tested them and fixed any pages that were not properly redirected. Google Search Console is showing 500 404 pages today and in going through them I realize that they are mostly old urls that were redirected in my old .htaccess file. In most cases the urls have been redirected for years, and a good number of them for 10 years! Why is google continuing to request pages that haven't existed for a decade? Is this normal behavior...all of the status codes are 301---200 OK. Anyone else see this behavior and is it safe to ignore those requests?
