Hi Friends,

We are publishing business news content. One breaking news linked from home page & same news/content on blog section on same domain

I want to apply rel canonical tag from home page breaking news to its corresponding blog url, as this sections is defined and accepted by google news publisher center & important for my website

The problem is my developer is unable to generated automated rel canonical tag. What other option I can use to avoid duplicate content issue ?

Would you please suggest ?

Get a new developer.

Would you please suggest ?

Seriously. Unless there's a serious limitation in your CMS (in which case you should get a new CMS), I find it hard to believe it can't be automated. I find it easier to believe your developer doesn't know how to do it, which is why I made my first suggestion.

Outside of that, you could noindex those pages. But if your developer could noindex those pages automatically, then he could automatically add rel canaonica automatically?

What @LifeinAsia said. You need to get this fixed sooner rather than later though. I have seen how duplicate content can get out of hand pretty darn quickly and hurt the rankings many times, especially with WordPress.
