Google isn't rewriting page titles in Germany anymore

In last years Google was showing often modified page titles in the SERPS. (see e.g. Google is now rewriting all my page titles [webmasterworld.com])

Now when I'm searching in Germany on google.de for german queries I'm getting in most of the cases the original page titles. I tried several different queries and in average three out of four titles are unchanged. Mostly in cases when titles are very short they are replaced. Thies means that the standard now is showing the original title while so far the standard was showing a modified title.

This is the first time that I'm seeing this since Google replaced the titles years ago. Of course, I don't know if it's temporarily or permanently. Anyway, is there somewhere else seeing similar things?

I just removed 2000 thin content pages and some of my re-written titles have been returned to normal meta title and my indexed pages in site: have started to increase with the decrease in deindexed pages. Definitely penalty related. Unless it coincides with what you're seeing, UK results. I expect to have 100% inclusion by the time taken site back to true content. total/total in wbm tools, total/total in site: worth checking those if you're seeing title rewrites.
