Has anyone ever heard of sites on the same C block cannibalising or affecting each others' keywords?

I'm not sure that this applies to your question, but years ago people would recommend that you put your sites on different servers, especially if they have links to each other. Otherwise, it was said, google might regard the links as artificially-built and demote the inter-linking sites. Whether this is, or ever was, a valid concern isn't clear.
