Getting spammed by irrelevant backlinks

Lately when I view my backlinks in WMT I have been getting hundreds/thousands of irrelevant backlinks. My website is about Italian Food and I keep getting these backlings from Roofing Companies, Apartment Companies, Flooring companies Hardeware companies, etc.... All of which if I click on the backlink it's a broken page. Is this negative SEO? i.e. someone deliberately creating non relevant backlinks to my site? Seems to be pretty strange behavior.

What should I do about all these crazy backlinks.

WMT is literally showing thousands of these junk urls linking to my site.

What to do?

received around 3k links from this domain over the last week. Disavowed the domain and its subs. Better safe than sorry. The more interesting part is why does anyone go through the trouble to target thousands of websites from this domain? Perhaps some test guinea pig to check blackhat link spam tactics?

The more interesting part is that neither of the premium backlink monitoring tools like ahrefs and similar mentioned these links anywhere. I guess they blocked such sites out?

They probably aren't targeting anyone. They probable have no ill will intentions.

Just because you can think of some really bad scenarios doesn't mean those are being enacted.
