OK.... it's an old subject and much has been written about avoiding duplicate meta descriptions. In the past when there has been the odd, accidental duplication, GWT reports the duplication when the duplication is an exact copy

I'm revamping an old site and want to update the meta descriptions on each page. Factual, to the point descriptions written for the viewer would read like:

"All about placename1 including best price comparisons for accommodation and transport plus bookings of popular holiday experiences"

"All about placename2 including best price comparisons for accommodation and transport plus bookings of popular holiday experiences"

.... and so on for about 50-60 pages. The descriptions on these pages vary only with the place names being different. My gut feel is that GWT will probably not report these as duplicate content because there is not an exact match. But I'm far from being sure on that... hence this post.

Opinions?

Your gut feel is correct :) GWT will not report them as duplicate.

The solution looks unaturaly like spam. Either way I don't think this will big enough to trigger anything unless the content of the page has similar text.

I would stock with the duplicate text. Nothing wrong with it.
